I completed my PhD in sociology, studying pregnancy and childbirth preferences. I completed DONA-approved birth and postpartum doula training through Harmony Doula Group. I also completed four continuing education courses via Evidence Based Birth.
I volunteer as a birth doula at SF General Hospital, and I take private clients as well.
I value bodily autonomy and evidence-based care. I believe the variability of birth is beautiful, and birthing people have many safe options during pregnancy and labor.
I offer (1) a birth doula package ($1,000) and (2) a combination of birth and postpartum care ($1,250). If cost is a prohibiting factor, please don't hesitate to reach out to discuss options!
My ideal client is curious about birth. Ask me – and your providers – questions! I hope to help you confidently pursue your ideal birth. As an academic, I love using evidence to inform preferences and conclusions. In birth, we often face situations in which there is no objectively “right” answer. As a doula, I can help you find the right answer for you. I particularly enjoy working with people who hope to have a low- or no- intervention birth (sometimes referred to as a natural birth, a physiologic birth, or an unmedicated birth).
As a doula, I help you think through common birth and postpartum scenarios in advance so you can feel prepared to make the decisions that are best for you. Your preferences matter.
My birth doula clients receive:
In-person support during labor
A detailed birth preferences questionnaire
A postpartum planning document
Two visits during pregnancy to discuss birth and postpartum
A list of evidence-based resources
One postpartum visit to discuss birth and postpartum
My birth and postpartum doula clients receive:
All of the above with and additional two postpartum visits
